The safety of motorway workers is a major concern shared by all road network stakeholders across Europe. To address this challenge, the “(S)he Works I Care” initiative has gradually established itself as a key event to raise awareness among heavy goods vehicle drivers and all road users.
Collectively driven and strengthened by the commitment of ASECAP, it is now part of a unifying European movement. Each year, this mobilisation helps improve awareness and promote a shared culture of safety on our roads.Building connections, changing perspectivesThe goal is simple: bringing two worlds closer together. By encouraging exchanges between heavy goods vehicle drivers and motorway patrol officers, this initiative helps everyone better understand each other's realities and constraints, in a spirit of empathy and goodwill, over a shared coffee.
The duos will capture this moment through a photo shoot. Each driver will leave with a souvenir photo, a symbol of their commitment, along with a personalised T-shirt bearing their first name – a tangible way to keep the message alive beyond the event.
2026 edition: a big success! On 24 June, a very large number of ASECAP members have participated in the 4th edition of the #(S)heWorks #ICare campaign through their social media and on their motorway networks. The awareness campaign took a European dimension supported throughout the network operated by ASECAP members. There is a growing European mobilisation: thanks to the increasing involvement of road operators across borders, the campaign is now part of a truly European dynamic.
Movement and well-being at the heart of the actionThis year, beyond safety messages, the focus was placed on the well-being and physical health of drivers, who are particularly exposed to sedentary lifestyles. Workshops dedicated to mobility and the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) were organised throughout the day at various motorway service areas across Europe.
