Why should we be all involved to save lives?

ASECAP Road Safety Conference 2019

Monday, 18th of March 2019

Venue: Members' lounge salon, European Parliament, Brussels

Hosted by Mr. Miltiadis Kyrkos
Member of the European Parliament (TRAN)

There are still more than 25,000 deaths on European roads. Today, road accidents are the leading cause of death for young people.

After a good trend in reducing the number of fatalities on the European roads which was a positive result to reach the EU goals to halve the death number, there is a slow and even an increase in the figures related to road safety.

One of the main cause is due to distraction and the use of mobile devices.

Faced with this unacceptable reality, a real challenge for our society is: are we able to eradicate the plea? What could be done? How?

The Conference will be the opportunity to actively discuss the topic with all stakeholders: road users, industry, policy makers from the European Commission and the European Parliament and road infrastructure operators with the objective to draw recommendations which could help to eradicate the problem to reach zero vision fatality.
