Since 2002 ASECAP and the European Commission – DG TREN - have set-up an informal body, the Road Platform, as a useful forum for exchanging information and knowledge in the field of the European road transport between the market players and the policy makers.

The Road Platform aims at focusing on strategic co-ordination of transport programmes and priorities, taking into account the need for planning of transport policy under a functioning PPP scheme.

In its meetings the Road Platform focuses on the ITS issues, EFC being a priority one, mainly after the adoption of the Directive 2004/52 (Interoperable EFC Road Pricing in Europe) and the creation of the EFC Regulatory Committee.

The main objective of the Road Platform is to give the opportunity to the stakeholders of the road sector to co-examine every matter and work towards a realistic and priority action plan for the years to come.
